The Garrison The Garrison, the latest offering at the Finley Farms development in Ozark owned by Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris, made its debut July 1. The speakeasy-themed small-plates restaurant and bar in the basement of The Ozark Mill requires reservations that are accepted exclusively online. Finley Farms spokesperson Dayle Duggins said The Garrison fills 4,950 square feet and employs 10, led by Executive Chef Kevin Korman, General Manager Jared Fimple and Food and Beverage Manager Kevin Longley. Korman also serves as executive chef of The Ozark Mill Restaurant, which opened last year. Duggins declined to disclose startup costs for The Garrison, which has a menu including bison tartare, mini pot roast and Chilean sea bass. Entree prices range $20-$65. Eight specialty cocktails, as well as beer, spirits and wine, also are served. Korman said the venue’s fried chicken dish is a nod to the Riverside Inn, started by Howard Garrison in 1923 and operated in Ozark until 2009. Phone: 417-210-6644 Web: FinleyFarmsMo.com/The-Garrison

Cooper Clinic On April 1, the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri opened on-site wellness facility Cooper Clinic at 3161 W. Norton Road. Humane Society spokesperson Katie Newcomb said Dr. Ana Smith is the head veterinarian for the two-employee, low-cost clinic serving cats and dogs. The clinic came to fruition due to an undisclosed financial donation from John and Mary Cooper. Newcomb said clinic startup costs were $200,000, including an exam room renovation, purchase of medical equipment and staff salary for a year. Donations are still being accepted to help cover the ongoing costs and expand services. The clinic offers pet care, including examinations, dental work, flea treatments, vaccinations and routine surgeries, such as spaying or neutering. Testing services and medications also are offered. Exam fees range $25-$35, and clients must schedule appointments. All proceeds from the clinic go back to the Humane Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to help rescued cats and dogs, according to officials. Phone: 417-833-2526 Web: SwH.org/Cooper-Clinic

Seattle Roast Coffee Seattle Roast Coffee launched its second Queen City shop March 23 inside The Library Center at 4653 S. Campbell Ave. The coffee franchise owned by local developer Morris Dock and his wife, Becky Overend Dock, was chosen to fill the 2,500-square-foot cafe space by Springfield-Greene County Library District administrators and trustees after a bidding process late last year, according to library officials. Overend Dock said remodeling work and new equipment for the cafe cost $30,000. Dock signed a one-year lease for $500 per month, said Jim Schmidt, associate director of the Library District. Seattle Roast Coffee’s menu includes cold brew, lattes and frappes, as well as food, such as pastries, muffins and quiches, supplied by The Habit Coffee Co. LLC in Rogersville. Mudhouse Coffee previously operated the coffee shop at The Library Center since 2008 but exited in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, said Schmidt. Seattle Roast Coffee’s first shop opened in 2020 at 401 South Ave. – the former home of Bistro Market and a Starbucks. Phone: 417-616-0660 Web: SeattleRoastCoffeeShop.com
